Scioto Makerspace

Maker Education at Scioto Library allows students to apply the context they are learning in class to solving a real authentic real world problem. It facilitates the development of a mindset that values playfulness and experimentation, growth and iteration, and collaboration and community. Through maker education, the process of learning is valued as much as the product. Our staff os able to personalize the learning based on interests, abilities and desired outcomes for each student. 

Do you have a free period and are you interested in serving as a Scioto Makerspace Guru? Our Gurus are trained on all of our Makerspace equipment and software which includes 3D printing, laser cutting, vinyl cutting, poster design and virtual reality. Students are able to work through the design process to create a physical representation of a design idea. Once a student reaches the guru level, they can work with other students and teachers in the building to help make and design.
